Having done Ancestry, my distant grandmother is Mary Magdalene. What is interesting is that Martha of Bethany appeared in the records but not Mary of Bethany. I for one believe that Mary of Bethany is a creation of early Catholic religion in part to destroy Mary Magdalene just because she played a leading role in the Gospel as a woman.
It was Pope Gregory the Great, in the 6th century that added the prostitution of Mary Magdalene to church doctrine. There is nothing said in the Bible to confirm that belief.
I quote Google, "Based on the description of the woman in Luke's Gospel, and the act of anointing Jesus' feet with her hair (which was considered taboo), Gregory inferred that she had previously been a prostitute."
Let's compare Greg's opinion with what Yahusha said, I quote. "Your faith has saved you; go in peace". Pope Gregory didn't let her go in peace. He gave her a reputation.
It was 1969 when the Catholic Church reversed the fact that Mary Magdalene wasn't a prostitute. That was something like 1400 years. What is interesting is that Muslims gained control of Jerusalem about 33 plus years after Pope Gregory the great died.
I quote, "Pope Paul VI's Address to Islamic Communities in Uganda: During his visit to Uganda in August 1969, Pope Paul VI delivered an address to Islamic communities, acknowledging their shared belief in God and advocating for peace and reconciliation between Christians and Muslims."
There seems to be a strong relationship between the dates of the Catholic belief about Mary Magdalene and Islamic aggression against the Church.
The question is, what was the seven sins? Was it a severe psychological or emotional condition or was it demonic. Jewish Priests had accused Yahusha of having a Devil, why wouldn't they not accuse Mary Magdalene? Or were her sins more health related like depression, anxiety, heavy bleeding, pelvic pain, and irregular periods?
I quote, "Ritual purity aspect The Biblical regulations of Leviticus specify that a menstruating woman must "separate" for seven days (Leviticus 15:19). Any object she sits on or lies upon during this period is becomes a "carrier of tumah" (midras uncleanness)."
The rebuke of the Jews fits as if Mary Magdalene was menstruating among other things. A servant washing feet was okay unless they were unclean.
What about Mary Magdalene's child named Sarah. She also had other children at various times. Who was Sarah's father? It wasn't Yahusha Hamashia because He voluntarily abstained from marriage to dedicate Himself to Yahuah Elohiym. Also from what Ron Wyatt said, Yahusha had 24 chromosomes because of a virgin birth. The Y chromosome was not Human. I believe the balance has been hidden from Science.
From my study, there was another man from the North that may have been the natural father. He latter married the richest woman in Jerusalem for political gain. What is interesting is that Mary Magdalene co-sponsored Yahusha's ministry.
And it happened that soon afterward He was going around from one city and village to another, preaching and proclaiming the good news of the kingdom of Elohiym. The twelve were with Him, and also some women who had been healed of evil spirits and sicknesses: Mary who was called Magdalene, from whom seven demons had gone out, and Joanna the wife of Chuza, Herod’s manager, and Susanna, and many others who were ministering to them from their possessions. Luke 8:1-3
From this scripture we see Mary Magdalene was wealthy. Next we see a woman named Mary of Bethany. Ancestry from different sources only have information on Mary Magdalene.
Now as they were traveling along, He entered a village; and a woman named Martha welcomed Him into her home. And she had a sister called Mary, who was also seated at the Lord’s feet, listening to His word. But Martha was distracted with all her preparations; and she came up to Him and said, “Lord, do You not care that my sister has left me to do all the preparations alone? Then tell her to help me.” But the Lord answered and said to her, “Martha, Martha, you are worried and bothered about so many things, but only one thing is necessary, for Mary has chosen the good part, which shall not be taken away from her.” Luke 10:38-42
Notice that only Martha greeted Yahusha. We are only told that Martha had a sister and she was sitting next to Yahusha listening to Him speak. Not once was it called Mary and Martha's preparations, only Martha's. Martha said Mary had left her alone. It's as if these verses say Mary had left before Yahusha stopping by. In these verses the Bible doesn't say Mary of Bethany, only Mary, sister of Martha.
Before we move on, we must return to the first appearance of Mary Magdalene. This is Luke 7:36-39.
Now one of the Pharisees was asking Him to eat with him, and He entered the Pharisee’s house and reclined at the table. And behold, there was a woman in the city who was a sinner. And when she learned that He was reclining at the table in the Pharisee’s house, she brought an alabaster jar of perfume. And standing behind Him at His feet, crying, she began to wet His feet with her tears. And she kept wiping them with the hair of her head, and kissing His feet and anointing them with the perfume. Now when the Pharisee, who had invited Him, saw this, he said to himself, saying, “If this man were a prophet He would know who and what sort of person this woman is who is touching Him, that she is a sinner.”
Okay, now let's see what John 11:1-2 says. "Now a certain man was sick, Lazarus from Bethany, the village of Mary and her sister Martha. And it was the Mary who anointed the Lord with perfume, and wiped His feet with her hair, whose brother Lazarus was sick. So the sisters sent to Him, saying, “Lord, behold, he whom You love is sick.”
On one hand Mary Magdalene was called a prostitute for touching Yahusha Hamashia's feet. But yet Mary of Bethany is righteous in John 12. There is no Mary of Bethany. The Bible identified Mary Magdalene as Mary of Bethany and it will do it again. Reading John 11 as Martha and Mary Magdalene, it gives insight into into who Mary Magdalene's life.
In John 12, we see Martha serving once again.
Yahusha, therefore, six days before the Passover, came to Bethany where Lazarus was, whom Yahusha had raised from the dead. So they made Him a supper there, and Martha was serving; and Lazarus was one of those reclining at the table with Him. "Mary then took a litra of perfume of very costly pure nard, and anointed the feet of Yahusha and wiped His feet with her hair; and the house was filled with the fragrance of the perfume."
Compare this with Mary Magdalene. "She brought an alabaster jar of perfume. And standing behind Him at His feet, crying, she began to wet His feet with her tears. And she kept wiping them with the hair of her head, and kissing His feet and anointing them with the perfume".
But Judas Iscariot, one of His disciples, who was going to betray Him, said, “Why was this perfume not sold for three hundred denarii and given to the poor?” Now he said this, not because he was concerned about the poor, but because he was a thief, and as he had the money box, he used to take from what was put into it.
Judas Iscariot lusted over money. We can only wonder what he thought about the first time this happened.
Therefore Yahusha said, “Let her alone, so that she may keep it for the day of My burial.
There it is. This is proof that Mary Magdalene is Mary of Bethany. It wasn't Mary of Bethany at the cross and taking care of a dead body. It was Mary Magdalene who the Pope called a prostitute. In the Pope's mind, a prostitute touches the dead, not a Lady respected in the community.
For you always have the poor with you, but you do not always have Me.” Then the large crowd from the Jews learned that He was there. And they came, not because of Yahusha only, but that they might also see Lazarus, whom He raised from the dead. But the chief priests planned to put Lazarus to death also; because on account of him many of the Jews were going away and were believing in Yahusha.
That is the ugly face of Religion, hide the evidence that shows their wickedness to the point of death of the innocent.
I quote, "Jewish law (Halakha) requires that women participate in the Seder and fulfill the obligations alongside men."
The Last Supper was Sedar. Although Mary Magdalene was not mentioned, neither was other disciples. You don't hear Stephen mentioned at the Last Supper and there isn't a question about him. Just because Mary Magdalene wasn't mentioned, Religion erased her from History at Sedar.
Luke 22:14-23
And when the hour had come, He reclined at the table, and the apostles with Him. And He said to them, “I have earnestly desired to eat this Passover with you before I suffer; for I say to you, I shall never again eat it until it is fulfilled in the kingdom of God". And when He had taken a cup and given thanks, He said, “Take this and share it among yourselves. For I say to you, I will not drink of the fruit of the vine from now on until the kingdom of God comes". And when He had taken some bread and given thanks, He broke it and gave it to them, saying, “This is My body which is given for you. Do this in remembrance of Me". And in the same way He took the cup after they had eaten, saying, “This cup which is poured out for you is the new covenant in My blood. But behold, the hand of the one betraying Me is with Me on the table. For indeed, the Son of Man is going as it has been determined; but woe to that man by whom He is betrayed"! And they began to argue among themselves which one of them it might be who was going to do this thing.
I quote, "Each cup represents one of the four expressions of redemption found in Exodus 6:6-7: "I will bring you out," "I will deliver you," "I will redeem you," and "I will take you as my people".
I quote, "Some traditions connect each cup to one of the four Matriarchs: Sarah, Rebecca, Rachel, and Leah".
I quote, "The four cups are traditionally drunk while reclining, a symbol of freedom, signifying that the participants are no longer slaves".
Mark 14
And while He was in Bethany at the home of Simon the leper, and reclining at the table, there came a woman with an alabaster jar of perfume of very costly pure nard; and she broke the jar and poured it over His head.
Yes, the woman's name is not mentioned. But perhaps this was an attempt to minimize Mary Magdalene's role in the Gospels. Who else would have been so close to do such a surprising act. As for Simon, the thought is that he was healed beforehand and he returned to his home.
But some were indignantly remarking to one another, “Why has this perfume been wasted? For this perfume might have been sold for over three hundred denarii and given to the poor.” And they were scolding her.
300 denarii is a year in wages. Mary Magdalene was a wealthy woman. It is recorded that she was one of several women who financed Yahusha's ministry. It's always about the money to people who think they are in charge. But for Yahusha, He could have changed water into costly perfume. Still today, churches are about financing Church business.
But Yahusha said, “Let her alone; why do you bother her? She did a good work to Me. For you always have the poor with you, and whenever you wish you can do good to them;
Did you catch that? The disciples could have did good to the poor and chose not too.
but you do not always have Me. She has done what she could; she anointed My body beforehand for the burial. And truly I say to you, wherever the gospel is proclaimed in the whole world, what this woman did will also be spoken of in memory of her”.
This woman knew Yahusha was going to be crucified. This was an act of love. It was Mary Magdalene that was at the tomb after three days. Perhaps it should be said, she was there every day for thee days. As for the disciples, they were in hiding for three days.
I quote, "Jewish traditions and interpretations suggest anointing the lamb's feet (or head) before its sacrifice. This practice is sometimes linked to preparing the lamb for its role as a sacrifice."
Then Judas Iscariot, who was one of the twelve, went away to the chief priests in order to betray Him to them. And when they heard this, they were glad and promised to give him money. And he began seeking how to betray Him at an opportune time.
Judas Iscariot must have wanted to embezzle a year's wages really bad. So being angry with Yahusha for getting rebuked, he sold Yahusha out for a slaves price. That is 4 months wages
And on the first day of Unleavened Bread, when the Passover lamb was being sacrificed, His disciples said to Him, “Where do You want us to go and prepare for You to eat the Passover "? And He sent two of His disciples and said to them, “Go into the city, and a man will meet you carrying a pitcher of water; follow him; and wherever he enters, say to the owner of the house, ‘The Teacher says, “Where is My guest room in which I may eat the Passover with My disciples?”’ And he himself will show you a large upper room furnished and ready; prepare for us there”. And the disciples went out and came to the city, and found it just as He had told them; and they prepared the Passover. And when it was evening He came with the twelve.
Okay, do the math. There is Yahusha and 12 disciples. Yahusha sent out 2. How many is left. Religion wants you to believe 12. Any grade schooler would say 10. To have 12 left coming latter, there must be 2 more than the 12. It's interesting that Yahusha revealed Himself to Mary Magdalene first after the resurrection. Conclusion, Mary Magdalene and another woman was at the Last Supper.
And as they were reclining at the table and eating, Yahusha said, “Truly I say to you that one of you will betray Me—the one who is eating with Me.” They began to be grieved and to say to Him one by one, “Surely not I?” And He said to them, “It is one of the twelve, the one who dips with Me in the bowl. For the Son of Man is to go just as it is written of Him; but woe to that man by whom the Son of Man is betrayed! It would have been good for that man if he had not been born.”
It's interesting that Yahusha said one of the 12, meaning the betrayer is male, not female. Can you imagine an eternity of knowing that you betrayed the Messiah for a few months wages? I quote, "The average annual average salary in the U.S. is $66,622". This would be about $22,200 today.
John 20
Now on the first day of the week, Mary Magdalene came early to the tomb, while it was still dark, and saw the stone already taken away from the tomb. So she ran and came to Simon Peter and to the other disciple whom Yahusha loved, and said to them, “They have taken away the Lord out of the tomb, and we do not know where they have laid Him.”
It's interesting that it was Mary Magdalene that was at the tomb before sunrise and not a man. Her heart led her there. It's more interesting that it says, "the other disciple whom Yahusha loved". It's as if John was writing that Yahusha loved Mary Magdalene.
So Peter and the other disciple went forth, and they were going to the tomb. And the two were running together; and the other disciple ran ahead faster than Peter and came to the tomb first; and stooping and looking in, he saw the linen wrappings lying there; but he did not go in. And so Simon Peter also came, following him, and entered the tomb; and he saw the linen wrappings lying there, and the face-cloth which had been on His head, not lying with the linen wrappings, but folded up in a place by itself. So the other disciple who had first come to the tomb then also entered, and he saw and believed. For as yet they did not understand the Scripture, that He must rise again from the dead. So the disciples went away again to where they were staying.
These two men didn't see Yahusha or the angels. They didn't believe Yahusha had resurrected.
But Mary was standing outside the tomb crying; and so, as she was crying, she stooped to look into the tomb; and she saw two angels in white sitting, one at the head and one at the feet, where the body of Yahusha had been lying. And they said to her, “Woman, why are you crying?” She said to them, “Because they have taken away my Lord, and I do not know where they have laid Him.” On the Ark of the Covenant are two angels. Can you imagine if it was a man that seen this sight? This man would be worshipped as if he was a god. It's interesting that Peter was the first one in and saw nothing but the what is known as the Shroud of Turin and the face cloth. He saw the last remaining sign of Death. But it was Mary Magdalene that seen the first sign of Life.
When she had said this, she turned around and saw Yahusha standing there, and did not know that it was Yahusha. Yahusha said to her, “Woman, why are you crying? Whom are you seeking?” Thinking Him to be the gardener, she said to Him, “Sir, if you have carried Him away, tell me where you have laid Him, and I will take Him away". Yahusha said to her, “Mary!” She turned and said to Him in Hebrew, “Rabboni!” (which means, Teacher).
This one noun sums up the relationship Mary Magdalene had with Yahusha Hamashia. She called Him Teacher. She was His Disciple, not a fiance. But as a respectable female disciple of Yahusha, the Pope called her a prostitute.
Yahusha said to her, “Stop clinging to Me, for I have not yet ascended to the Father; but go to My brothers and say to them, ‘I ascend to My Father and your Father, and My God and your God". Mary Magdalene came, announcing to the disciples, “I have seen the Lord,” and that He had said these things to her.
It was Mary Magdalene that brought the Gospel to the 11 Disciples.
After this Mary Magdalene wasn't mentioned in the Gospel. We can only imagine Her on the Mount of Olives watching her Teacher disappear into the clouds. But there is a book that is said that Mary Magdalene written. You know men wouldn't include it with books men written. That would undermine masculine authority. She spoke about the nature of Sin and the transformation away from sin. Just by her writing this Gospel, it challenged gender roles.
I quote, "Mary Magdalene's position as a teacher and interpreter of Yahusha's message. It suggests that spiritual authority comes from insight and understanding, not just from hierarchical structures within the Church".
One thing Mary Magdalene did was to eliminate the battle over who was greatest. At the Last Supper, I believe it was Mary Magdalene at Yahusha's right side.
From here the account moves to Southern France. But beforehand there is a gap in the storyline. Mary Magdalene gets arrested along with Joseph of Arimathea, Martha Lazarus and others. There is no record of this event happening, however there is no record of Mary Magdalene having trouble with the Romans. Therefore I believe it was the Jews who arrested and wishing for her to perish at sea with the others in the Mediterranean Sea. They are set adrift in a boat without oars, sail or rudder. We can imagine that there was no fresh water or food also. Somehow they make landfall in southern France. Perhaps it rained keeping them alive. These Disciples go unrecorded along with the letters they wrote for the most part.
I believe the French tradition that claims she evangelized Provence (southeastern France) and spent her last 30 years in an Alpine cavern. This is because there are records of ancestry that are handed down with French royal ancestry.
I quote, "Catharism was a form of Christianity that diverged significantly from mainstream Catholic beliefs, emphasizing the spiritual over the material and advocating for a life of purity and self-denial in order to escape the evil world and return to the good".
Also, "Catharism is notable for its relatively egalitarian views on gender, valuing women as spiritual equals".
I could see Mary Magdalene as the Apostle who have planted the seeds of Catharism. The Pope believed the Cathars betrayed his authority. The Cathers believed that the Pope lead a materialistic religion. We could say Antichrist like Martin Luther Germany said in his day about the Pope. So the Catholic Military burned the Cathars at the stake, or should I say crucified them at the stake, burned alive.
I quote, "The Catholic Church burned Cathars at the stake during the Albugensian Crusade, which lasted from 1209 to 1229, and continued with the Inquisition afterwards ".
I quote, "The last Crusader strongholds in the Levant fell in 1291, marking the end of the major Crusades aimed at the Holy Land".
So the Jews had Rome crucifie Yahusha and about 40 years later Rome burned Jerusalem. Rome burned the Cathars and Rome lost Jerusalem. There was Christians living in Israel up to the point where Europe started to get involved. It's then Christians was targeted.
I quote, "sources suggest that up to 1.5 million Armenian Christians were systematically killed between 1915 and 1917".
The Ottoman Empire was in decline causing nationalist fears that Christians would become free as in an independent nation. So you see the connection? Tyranny struggles to maintain control of the world. It doesn't matter if it is Jewish, Christian or Muslim.
It is said that several prominent Counts of Toulouse (who held lands in Provence) were associated with or accused of supporting the Cathars. It was these men who protected the cave of Mary Magdalene at De La Sainte-Baume between Aix-en-Provence and Marseille. Today it is a Catholic Shrine and Pilgrimage location.
It is not my intent to discredit those who belong to a religion believing in the God of Abraham. It's History of wicked leadership wanting materialistic rewards. As for Mary Magdalene, one can only imagine a lonely campfire in a cave, as she took her last breath thinking about when she was so filled with joy finding out Yahusha Hamashia was alive, back from the dead. One day Mary Magdalene will be resurrected ascending into Heaven, called up by her teacher Yahusha.
