I believe the first word we need to understand in these two verses is the word, in. In Greek, "in" is the word, epi. We find this word starting the word, epidural. An epidural is an injection to stop pain. I believe epi can be read together as, epi-dexios and epi-metōpon in verse 16. Epi-dexios is understood as, on the right, as in on the right hand. If dexios is followed by a body part, that body part is named in Greek. Epi-metōpon is understood as on the forehead, as in between the eyes. In my opinion the Mark of the Beast is an injection in the right hand or on the forehead. I also believe that it will be injected in the loose skin between the thumb and forefinger or above the the nose under the forehead. Where the loose skin is.
Forasmuch then as we are the offspring of God, we ought not to think that the Godhead is like unto gold, or silver, or stone, graven by art and man's device. Acts 17:29
We are looking at this verse because of the word graven. Graven and Mark comes from the Greek word, charagma. Charagma occurs nine times in nine verses. We could understand verse 16 written this way.
And he causes all, both small and great, rich and poor, free and bond, to receive technology into their right hand, or in their foreheads:
This would imply cutting into the forehead and right hand. It would be also a ongoing thing the way it's written. A biological link to the beast is established if someone would receive the Mark of the Beast. This Graven image is made by art and device. That is to say by technology and careful consideration or discussion of Antichrist and the Nations of the Earth.
It's by the mark, the name or the number of the beast is how this thing works. They will want everyone to receive the technology in their right hand or forehead. Every business or government will use the name or the number of the beast.
And the smoke of their torment ascendeth up for ever and ever: and they have no rest day nor night, who worship the beast and his image, and whosoever receiveth the mark of his name. Revelation 14:11
Anyone who will take the Mark of the Beast is unavailable to and not qualified for salvation. The Mark of the Beast is a Death sentence spiritually.
And the first went, and poured out his vial upon the earth; and there fell a noisome and grievous sore upon the men which had the mark of the beast, and upon them which worshipped his image. Revelation 16:2
Before people with the mark are in Hell, the technology of the beast, they will face a reaction between the technology of the Beast and the Wrath of Yahuah. The Apostle John saw a broad shallow cup that was poured out. It's interesting to know that the priest used something like this to catch the Lamb's blood in it. These spiritual cups may hold prayers in them also. What we know is that sores are a direct punishment for the deaths of Saints.
And the beast was taken, and with him the false prophet that wrought miracles before him, with which he deceived them that had received the mark of the beast, and them that worshipped his image. These both were cast alive into a lake of fire burning with brimstone. Revelation 19:20
Here we see that the Antichrist and the False Prophet are cast into the Lake of Fire. The information given here is that the Antichrist, the False Prophet and the information given out about the Technology of the Beast was not truthfull. The sad thing is that this people that was deceived about the Mark of the Beast are now eternally doomed.
